In the Atlas theater in Emmen on Thursday the 7th of June, the prizes for Best Young Entrepreneur and Best Young Company were awarded. During the event, I had the chance to talk a few minutes about RosterBuster and how it changes the lives of airline crew around the world.
The yearly event always attracts a lot of entrepreneurs and investors from The Netherlands. I was asked to provide a short inspiration talk about my life as an entrepreneur with Gamebasics and RosterBuster.
A memorable but slightly awkward moment was when show host Jort Kelder announced me at the wrong time. To make up for it, he decided to kiss my shoes on stage.
I started my talk with the adventures I had with Online Soccer Manager, the game that has become so immensely popular with football lovers around the globe. I shared some mistakes I made along the way, such as not focusing on the right things.
After that I explained my switch to RosterBuster, and why this app has become such a hit among airline crew.
Kelder, who followed up the talk with a few questions, mentioned that one of his ex-girlfriends is a flight attendant. He could therefore easily see why RosterBuster’s mission to make airline crew’s lives easier is so important.
Aside from my talk, there was an inspiration session by Oscar Kleppers from Rockstart and the audience could enjoy a great line-up of start-ups and entrepreneurs.
The start-up competition was won by HotelChamp, a fast-growing company that provides bridges the gap between hotels and travel giants like booking.com and expedia. Casper Lemmen won the well-deserved title for a best young entrepreneur with his company Grenzelooswerk, that provides jobs for people that want to work abroad.
The entire event can be viewed here (in Dutch). My talk is at the end.
