As part of the course “Data Driven Business Model Innovation” students from The Hague University of Applied Sciences have helped RB Group with identifying and addressing airline crew needs on location. Their advice: create a social feature or app to help airline crew on layovers.
Several groups of students have participated in the course, making it possible to do a broad investigation on the needs and wants of airline crew on layovers. They started with an interview at the RB Group office, followed by further desk research, interviews with airline crew, surveys and data collection from social channels.
The findings are published in a report and were pitched on the final pitch day in the university, after which the winners were announced. There was a lot of enthusiasm from the students for this topic and it showed in their results.
In their conclusions, the students urge us to focus on social features and engagement. We are planning to make use of their input in the upcoming months, in which we have several new features and products in development.
RB Group gladly assists the university with courses such as “Data Driven Business Model Innovation”. It is a way to help the university with much needed real-life cases that students can work on. But also for us it generates creative ideas that can lead to true business innovations.
